In what we hope will be a bellwether ruling, another jury has found Roundup to be a "substantial factor" in causing a man's cancer.
On March 19, a federal jury delivered a unanimous verdict in the case of Edwin Hardeman, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after using Roundup on his property for more than 20 years. This was the first federal case to go to trial against Monsanto over Roundup's cancer risk.
"Ever since the World Health Organization determined glyphosate is a probable carcinogen, we have been warning consumers that Roundup is a possible health risk," said Kara Cook-Schultz, director of our national Ban Roundup campaign. "This ruling is another step in the right direction toward raising public awareness and banning Roundup unless and until it's proven safe."
CoPIRG and our national network are working to ban Roundup in states and cities across the country.
