Mayor Hancock joins national call for Trump Administration to centrally purchase and distribute medical supplies

More than 113 mayors and county executives across 18 states delivered a letter to the Trump administration urging the federal government to use its emergency powers to ramp up production of critical medical supplies like ventilators and masks, and to centrally distribute those materials.

Americans need a truly independent watchdog for the biggest stimulus package in history

President Donald Trump announced yesterday he was removing the independent head of the federal watchdog panel charged with overseeing disbursement of the $2.2 trillion CARES Act funds, less than two weeks after Congress passed the stimulus bill to deal with the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. In response, U.S. PIRG Tax and Budget advocate R.J. 26 Colorado legislators join Attorney General, demand Amazon, other online marketplaces end coronavirus price gouging

26 Colorado legislators are calling on the country’s top online marketplaces to crack down on price gouging amidst the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. In total 346 legislators representing 45 states joined CoPIRG Foundation in sending a letter Tuesday urging Amazon, Craigslist, eBay, Facebook and Walmart to quickly implement preventative measures on their platforms to ensure that consumers don’t get taken advantage of during this public health crisis. Less than two weeks ago, 33 attorneys general, including Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, sent a similar letter to the same companies.

Mayors, County Executives call for a federal effort to coordinate purchasing and distribution of medical equipment during the COVID-19 coronavirus crisis

Health experts say we don’t have enough ventilators--machines used to help people struggling to breathe--to treat the projected number of COVID-19 patients. Also, there's no coordination, so states are fighting with each other over supplies, and hospitals aren't getting what they need. That's why U.S. PIRG is gathering support from mayors and county executives across the country calling for the Trump Administration to use its emergency powers to double the ventilator supply and to centrally distribute those materials, along with other critical medical supplies like masks and gloves.
